Andrea graduated from Dalhousie University’s Physiotherapy program and went on to pass her Advanced Manipulation Exam in 2005 then graduating with her Master of Clinical Science (Manipulative Therapy) from UWO in 2008. She worked first in Texas, USA, primarily in geriatrics and outpatients, before returning to Nova Scotia to begin an orthopaedic focus in her practice. She worked first for The Physioclinic for 14 years as a clinician and Clinical Care Coordinator, training and mentoring physiotherapists in the company. Andrea joined the team of the CBI Health Group in 2010 as a Senior Physiotherapist in Nova Scotia, and currently practices in the Dartmouth clinic. Andrea has taught in the orthopaedic module in Dalhousie University’s Physiotherapy program since 2002, and teaches and mentors Physiotherapists in the Orthopaedic Division curriculum as a credentialed instructor for Levels 1, 2 and 3, and mentors therapists in the UWO program. Andrea was appointed examiner in the Orthopaedic Division in 2017. Andrea was part of the executive of the Nova Scotia Orthopaedic Section of the CPA from 2001-2013, and Chair 2003- 2011. She sat as the Vice Chair for the National Orthopaedic Division 2008 to 2010 and now holds the position of Curriculum Chair for the Ortho Division Education Committee. Andrea balances her work life with various fitness activities, running, snowboarding, hiking with the dog and the occasional game of golf. “I believe that the studies for my diplomas brought me greater understanding and appreciation of the detail we must be aware of, to appropriately assess and treat an individual’s injury and dysfunction. Our bodies have many tasks to achieve each day, and appropriately tailored rehab must address the whole body and its function. Manual therapy and manipulation are great tools in the toolbox, but only when combined with exercise, education and pain relief will I help my patients get back to their lives.”
