I have been a physiotherapist since graduating from the University of Western Ontario with a Bachelor of Science (Physical Therapy) in 1998. Since then I have practised in public hospitals, long term care centres, home environments, university athletic clinics, and private physiotherapy practices. My experience includes a six year journey overseas working as a physiotherapist in England, Scotland, New Zealand and Australia, culminating in the completion of a Masters of Manipulative Physiotherapy at the University of Otago in New Zealand (recognizing me as a Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Manipulative Therapy on my return to Canada). Throughout my career I have attended many other professional development courses, with a special interest in anatomical (western) approaches to acupuncture and I am a UBC certified Gunn Intramuscular Stimulation (CGIMS) practitioner.
In addition to my clinic-based work I have a longstanding interest in working with a variety of sports as a field-level therapist, including men’s & women’s club rugby, box lacrosse, soccer, and Canada’s National Diving Team at international events. I currently maintain my skills as a Sport Physiotherapy Canada Certificate therapist working with OPDL junior soccer and local club rugby.
My physiotherapy passions include deciphering complex/multi-region clinical presentations, integrating exercise conditioning science into active rehabilitation, and using bio-psychosocial approaches in balance with the physical approaches to patient care. I divide my time between seeing private patients, and working as an Advanced Practice Clinician for Low Back Pain for the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care ISAEC program.
