Masters of Physical Therapy, Bachelor's of Human Kinetics
Johnny completed his Masters of Physiotherapy in 2009 at the University of British Columbia (UBC) where he earned several awards for both clinical and academic distinction. From his clinical experiences and his exposure in athletics, Johnny has developed a keen interest in sport injuries, pre and post surgical rehabilitation, paediatrics, injuries related to working professionals, and injury prevention.
Johnny’s treatment approach blends hands-on manual therapy, Intramusular Stimulation (IMS), exercise prescription, and client education. He has completed the advanced Orthopaedic (Manual Therapy) levels I, II and III. Johnny is pursuing further Orthopaedic levels and also advanced courses in tennis and golf injury prevention (Titleist Performance Institute).
As a UBC Varsity Baseball alumnus, his passion lies in sports; Johnny is very interested in working with athletes from all sporting backgrounds and educating clients on the prevention of sport-related injuries. Johnny works with the Douglas Collage Baseball team, acting as the team Physiotherapist as well as team trainer. Each year, Johnny mentors and supervises UBC Master of Physical Therapy students. He has worked internationally in paediatrics and is able to speak English and Cantonese. Johnny is a dedicated, hardworking and engaging physiotherapist. In his spare time, you will find him at local community events, providing medical coverage and playing a variety of different sports, including tennis, golf, baseball, basketball, and cycling. His continual passion for an active lifestyle has given Johnny an understanding of the importance of sport and activity in people’s lives, and the importance of getting clients back to participating in the activities they are passionate about.
