Laurie Urban, MSc. (Rehabilitation), B.P.T., B.A., FCAMPT, Diploma Sports Physiotherapy, graduated from the University of Manitoba with a Diploma of Physiotherapy in 1977. He earned his Intermediate Manual Therapy Certificate in 1986 and his Advanced Level in 1991. Laurie received his Diploma in Sports Physiotherapy in 1989. Laurie Certified in Acupuncture in 1987. As a Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Manipulative Therapists Laurie has been teaching in the Canadian Physiotherapy Association Level system since 1987. Laurie is a National Examiner for the Orthopaedic Division and was appointed a Chief Examiner in 2011. Laurie is part of the Canadian faculty of the NeuroOrthopaedic Institute and has been teaching David Butlers curriculum in Canada since 2000. Laurie has been teaching at the University of Manitoba in the Physical Therapy Division since 1983. Laurie has published an article on the Straight Leg Raising test in JOSPT in 1983, contributed a chapter in Greg Griever’s Modern Manual Medicine, The Vertebral Column on the same topic and recently published an article on the Diagnostic accuracy of the Slump Test in Identifying Neuropathic pain in the Lower Limb also in JOSPT in 2015. Laurie continues his clinical practice at Centric Health Sports Therapy and Wellness Centre in Winnipeg.
