Mabel completed her Masters of Physical Therapy at Western University, and undergraduate degree in the Bachelor of Physical and Health Education program at Nipissing University. Mabel has a passion for evidence-based physiotherapy, patient-centred care and continuing education. rnrnMabel is a Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Manipulative Physiotherapy. She is certified to perform functional dry needling, acupuncture (Acupuncture Foundation of Canada Institute) and selective functional movement assessment (SFMA). Mabel has taken continuing education courses in concussions, soft tissue release and Mulligan treatment, and is a Kinesio tape provider. Mabel has a special interest in arthritis treatment, sports injuries and concussion rehabilitation. rnrnMabel is a Professor at Canadore College in the Occupational Therapist Assistant and Physiotherapist Assistant program. She has also lectured at Nipissing University in the Bachelor of Health and Physical Education program. In 2015, Nipissing News awarded Mabel the Reader’s Choice Award for “Best Physiotherapist in North Bay”. Mabel has previously held executive positions of the Leadership Division of the Canadian Physiotherapy Association. rnrnWhen Mabel graduated from Western University, she received the following awards for academic and practical excellence and contributions: Barbara Edwardson Orthopedic Award, Canadian Physiotherapy Association Orthopedic Award, The Physical Therapy Faculty Award and Valedictorian Award. While at Western University, she received the Ontario Graduate Scholarship twice. When Mabel graduated from Nipissing University, she received the following awards: Valedictorian Award, David Marshall Leadership Award, President’s Gold Medal Excellence Award, Canadian Society for Exercise Physiology Award and the Tembec Citizenship Award. Throughout her education at Nipissing University, Mabel received the Nipissing University President’s Scholarship and Millennium Provincial Excellence Award for four years. rn
