Mehwa graduated from the University of Western Ontario in 1996 with a Bachelors of Science in Physical Therapy and obtained her Masters of Physiotherapy (Manipulation) from the University of Queensland, Australia in 2002. She returned to Calgary in 2006 from Australia where she had been continuing her studies in physiotherapy researching neck pain and spinal stability. She is a fellow of the Canadian Academy of Manual Therapists (CAMPT) and certified in Gunn Intramuscular Stimulation (IMS). Mehwa has been working in a variety of hospital, private practice, sports medicine and university settings in Canada, the United Kingdom, and Australia for the last 19 years. Although Mehwa sees a variety of dysfunctions and injuries in a wide range of clientele, her major areas of interests are spinal problems and core stabilization, sporting injuries and correction of muscle imbalances. A large part of her practice now involves working with individuals in an active setting in the gym or field to correct movement patterns, correct imbalances, and strengthen specifically and holistically . She believes a primary component of physiotherapy is education and physical activity. Mehwa keeps busy all year round participating in a variety of sports such as tennis, running, volleyball, hiking, and cycling.
