Shelley graduated from McMaster University in 1996 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Therapy and moved to White Rock in 1997 where she has worked in private practice ever since. In 2004, she obtained her Fellowship in the Canadian Academy of Manipulative Therapy and became certified in IMS (dry needling for trigger point release ) in 2006. Shelley has an interest in orthopedics and sports injuries and has considerable experience treating athletes from a variety of sports. She spent two years doing on field training for the Bayside Rugby Club and more recently has become involved in educating coaches regarding injury prevention in young athletes. She has developed simple screening tools to help coaches detect those ‘kids at risk’ of injury and is passionate about helping them move and grow into their changing bodies. Shelley also incorporates the use of real time ultrasound imaging to help educate clients on optimal muscle recruitment strategies for core stability and also uses this tool in biofeedback training during exercise instruction.
