CAMPT Member Profile
MSc(PT) 2001, BSc(PT) 1987
I have been in clinical practice since 1987. I opened Jill Robertson Physiotherapy and Consulting in January 2017. Previously I owned and operated Beaverbank Orthopaedic and Sport Physiotherapy in Lower Sackville, N.S. as well as Young Kempt Physiotherapy in Halifax. I also taught part time at Dalhousie University, the Orthopaedics courses in the School of Physiotherapy. I am an instructor and lead examiner for the Orthopaedic Division of the Canadian Physiotherapy Association. My Masters thesis examined manual therapy treatment of the hip. I believe manual therapy (hands on treatment to help restore joint motion, muscle length, and nerve mobility) is an important component in the rehabilitation of many patients. Manual therapy treatment techniques are only part of the total treatment plan as full function requires the integration of joint motion, muscular activation and endurance, nerve health, overall proper posture and movement patterns. Educating patients with exercises to reinforce the manual therapy techniques is my philosophy.
